5 Benefits of Your Covenant

By Daniel Pringle
Blessing the Lord is an expression of thanksgiving. It means to kneel before Him in adoration. When we come to God whether in prayer or worship we are instructed how to access His presence by enter His gates with thanksgiving. Accessing the presence of God begins with thanksgiving. We all have many things that we can be thankful for. Even before we bring out petitions before God we must begin by being people of thanksgiving.

Five Reasons to Bless the Lord

Psalm 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul;

And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Bless the Lord, O my soul,

And forget not all His benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from destruction,

Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

Who satisfies your mouth with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Philippians 4: 6 " be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all  understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

We are called not to worry but rather be a person of thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving has the ability to cancel worry from your life. Thanksgiving is thanking God for what He has historically done in your life. You will either be a person of thanksgiving or a person of worry. David states not to forget these benefits. There are benefits of being a child of God. Being in covenant with God has benefits. These are part of your benefit package as being part of the Kingdom.I want to encourage you to begin your time of prayer by accessing His presence by thanking God for these following reasons.

BENEFIT #1 HE FORGIVES ALL YOUR INIQUITIES

Because of the finished work of Christ and the shedding of blood all your sin has been forgiven. What a great way to access the presence of God by beginning to thank Him for the blood of Jesus!

BENEFIT #2: HE HEALS ALL YOUR DISEASES

Again because of the Blood of Jesus healing is available for you. Thank God for healing your body, healing your soul, healing your mind. If you have ever been healed by God you that is a benefit of His covenant that requires us to give Him thanks.

BENEFIT #3 HE REDEEMS YOUR LIFE FROM DESTRUCTION

How many times has the enemy devised a plan to destroy your life yet God interrupted and intervened on your behalf? How many times have we, because we had ways of "self destruction" that God saved us from ourselves. Thank Him for redeeming you from destructive ways.

BENEFIT #4 HE CROWNS YOUR LIFE WITH LOVING KINDNESS AND TENDER MERCIES

To crown your life means  to build a shield. It wasn't a shield that a person just held in front of them, but rather an all encompassing shield. You are completely surrounded by the loving kindness and tender mercies of God. His mercies are new every morning. Thank Him for the mercy and loving kindness that surrounds your life. Activate your benefit.

BENEFIT #5 HE SATISFIES YOUR MOUTH WITH GOOD THINGS

God enjoys fulfilling our requests. He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants. God satisfies your mouth which is where your desires take voice. When you give your desires a voice, God satisfies those desires with good things. Activate this benefit by giving God thanks.
